about me
I began sewing out of need … Barbie needed new clothes! After careers in scientific instrumentation, sales training, writing, and graphic design, I settled into life as an art quilter … cutting up perfectly good fabric and putting it back together.
My fiber education began with my grandmother (Ethel) and mother (Dora), both masters of many needles. I’d say I was self-taught but that wouldn’t properly credit the piles of books, museums, tutorials, and classes that have informed my work. The generous teachers of the fiber world are a true gift.
Colors and textures are my never-ending inspiration. Especially strong colors! Abstract work is my favorite but I also enjoy an occasional trip into realistic portrayals of the world around me. But mostly, I love to play, learn, teach, collaborate, and not follow the rules.
